Breakfast- Something to Start the Engines!

Always a great time to do your Probiotics; if you pop some as soon as you walk in the kitchen, then as you get the rest of your breakfast ready they will be getting down to your intestines unhampered which is how they are most effective. they CAN be taken with meals so go ahead if you forgot to do them earlier. ALSO don't get nervous if you left them out of the fridge for a few days, weeks or even up to 6 months- ! They do not spoil, they only die off and it becomes a weaker dose is all. so if that happens just eat twice as many as you would normally. They will not harm you.
Next a hot drink is usually on most folks minds. One of the best for a little liver cleansing and a slight intestinal nudge, try squeezing a whole lemon in your cup of boiling water. Sip and be amazed at how satisfying this is! Of course green, white or black tea, in that order are high in antioxidants and a some caffeine. If you LOVE coffee, fine, have it! But try to do some organic fair trade. Also you could try making your own water processed coffee- I am told this makes the SMOOTHEST cup of coffee you ever had. It does take away the acid, which makes it more agreeable. BUT remember one cup is enough- if you find you are craving more than that look into feeding your adrenals and other energizing tips. Here's how to make the water processed coffee-
Pour one pound of coffee into a one gallon glass jar (ask at a , restaurant. deli or institution for one of these)
Fill with water
Let set overnight in refrigerator
Pour liquid into another glass container to store in fridge-FOR hot coffee, use one tablespoon or as desired of liquid concentrate in a cup, add boiling water
Discard grounds in you garden( some gardener should tell us why...?)
OK the next thing on your breakfast routine should be some form of fruit-it is great to eat by itself as it can digest quickly and help lubricate bowels and get blood sugar stirring for energy. Also you should be tryng to eat 7-9 servings of fruit and vegetables per day . so get one or two in there first thing. Notice that is SERVINGS that means a large piece of fruit may count as two servings. I have been taught that many serving sizes for the fruits or veggies is roughly a 1/2 cup of food.
Raw fruit is obviously good (some nutritionist say to aim for 50-75% raw food in your diet) or try stewing some apples, pears, dried fruits, raisins cranberries , whatever -with a few shakes of cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg. i stewed a bunch this fall and canned it so i have it ready to heat and eat now. It is so appealing on a snowy day! For an extra treat I put it on Greek-style plain yogurt. Now you've had protein, calcium and fruit and it's a fast, light, easy to digest breakfast. You could add a slice of toast with flax/butter (see below)or almond butter for a more filling quick breakfast. look for the whole grain multigrain, try spelt or Ezeikiel bread for a healthier option. For a muffin like option try something like Essene bread- slice thick toast and put butter or flax oil on it. Here is the way to get more of the healthy essential fatty acids of flax oil into you - take 1 stick butter (NOT MARGARINE) when soft at room temperature, blend in 1/4 cup NSP Flax oil liquid pack in small dish and use as a butter spread.
Oatmeal is another good whole grain breakfast choice- try a faster way of making it that creates more of a muesli type dish.
Put desired amount of oatmeal in your bowl (raisins, dried cranberries, etc can be addded if desired)
pour on enough boiling water to just cover the oats well.
Let set 2-4 minutes (till when you look down into bottom of dish and water is all absorbed)
Add a shot of NSP Thai Go juice, Greek yogurt or milk of any sort or juice ( orange is tasty)
Dress up with more nuts or seeds if desired
of course it doesn't take long to scramble an egg and throw in some of last nites steamed veggies,
OR keep a bunch of boiled eggs in the fridge, peel, dump on some powdered herb salt, or some horseradish mayo or celtic sea salt and you are on your way! or make a quick egg salad wrap or sandwich
Egg Custard is my other favorite FAST FOOD egg breakfast.
I make up a 1/2 dozen of these for a real treat of a breakfast or for dessert when I am in the mood
Put in a 2 qt bowl 5-6 eggs, 1 qt milk of any sort (my favorite for delicate light custards is Rice Milk, also try almond, goat, hemp or soy) beat with a whisk or fork
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
4 tiny scoops( come with it) OR 4 packages of NSP Stevia ( not sure of measurements on other brands) or 1/4 NSP XYlitol
powder
pour into 6-8 ovenproof cups or pyrex dishes. Sprinkle with ground Nutmeg
Set dishes in a large pan and pour in water around dishes to come 1/2 way up on them
Bake at 350-375 for 45-60 minutes- check to see if middle looks "set up" it will wiggle when shook but not look totally like thin liquid. keep cool
for extra treat put raspberries or cherries on top to eat.
And now for the Smoothie crowd: put in blender or food processor: 1/2 to 1 cup yogurt, or Tofu or some kind of milk , 1/2 to 1 cup frozen berries and/or frozen sliced bananas 1-2 shots NSP Thai go juice. NOW add whatever else you want- some Ultimate Greenzone will alkalize you and raise the nutrition level, some NSP Synerprotein powder, some flax oil to get your Omega 3s, the liquid vitamins like Vita Wave or Chinese Mineral Chi, NSP liquid Calcium, or powdered coral calcium, anything you want!

There are a few healthy ways to start your day so what's your excuse for skipping breakfast or having (shudder!) coffee and bagels every day??
Has anyone else got any other favorite breakfast fast food ideas?
