5/6-09 newsletter

Here is this months newsletter which goes out to active customers along with Steven Horne's two newsletters on Anger and the other on Being Prepared-

Summer is coming fast! Be ready for fun in the great outdoors- this month’s newsletter on “Being Prepared” has some great ideas, but I think one of MY favorites was missing! I can’t believe they left out Lavender Oil- it is good for burns, pain, healing any wound, sprained ankles and bruises, calms down babies, anxiety attacks and helps you fall asleep. Stops itching bug bites, rubbed on bellies it has calmed diarrhea as well as relieved constipation. I have mixed it with emus oil for sunburns or with Nature’s Fresh, also anti-inflammatory, to spray on sunburns or to use as deodorant or for instant healing on sprains. It is safe even for a baby as bug repellant and good in most any healing situation. You can use it straight with no mixing oil if you want.
I have been doing lots with Silver Shield Gel - for cuts, scratches, infections, nail fungus, acne. I even brush my teeth and tongue with it when I feel mouth sores or a scratchy throat coming on. It has been used on a tampon for yeast infections. I also tried the gel on a small patch of poison ivy- seemed to work quickly (though my favorite Ivy remedy is to take large amounts of Vit. C Ascorbates -1 tsp 3-4 times daily-with ¼ cup Thai go. Also wash the rash daily with Fels Naptha soap, making a paste of it after, to leave on the rash)
Hopefully you were able to catch some of the NSP Education Week in May that offered a free health webinar every day that week (these are also available on the phone). If you missed these excellent lectures or just would like a chance to hear them again you can still have this info on DVD by ordering one lecture or the whole set from Riverwalk Media at NSPAudio.com
Another great chance to learn how to use herbs is by checking out the ABC&D Approach to Natural Health from Steven Horne. The first TWO classes are FREE! Just go to www.NSPWebinars.com and look for the link to this course.
NSP also provides free webinars once a month on a Wednesday, one on a product and one on a business technique. The next ones are July 8th on Everflex (joint support formula) and the business one is on July 15th. Check the website or contact me or home office to get the phone number and pin if you want to hear them that way instead of online.
Bill Fage still has educational programs at his place in Sterling on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. Call 978 422-8064 to find out the topic of each month.
As everyone knows the cost of postage has gone up again so I am forced to take a serious look at the long list of those I send this newsletter to. Unfortunately, I will have to consider who really has an active interest in the information and the NSP products. This newsletter will continue to be sent to those who are NSP current wholesale members or who have ordered from me within a year (or from another NSP member in my group; in which case you need to let me know that is how you purchase your products). If you are having trouble ordering for some reason please contact me with questions.
Besides the opportunity to buy the highest quality herbs and supplements on the planet at wholesale, the NSP system gives you the opportunity to ask me, your very own Certified Natural Health Professional and Certified Herbal Consultant, all the questions you have or to make use of NSP’s many educational programs to learn for yourself. You can even call the Health and Science Dept at home office if you do not get an answer thru these other channels. It’s a lot more reliable advice than the health food store clerk!
I will also begin sending this part of the newsletter out by email (the copyright does not allow to send the rest) to ANYONE, customer or not, who provides me with their cyber-address. So, if you are one of the passive sideliners that enjoy reading this but never buy any products, look for this portion online! Back issues will be on the blog. Or let me know how I can help you improve your life with NSP and show you how easy it is to order.
I hope you will understand my need to trim my costs and you enjoy your summer!

REAL HEALTHY FUN in the SUN
There have been several articles on the questionable value of sunscreen in preventing skin cancer. Several ingredients in them were shown to be CANCER CAUSING. A higher incidence of skin cancer was found in young women, who were more likely to use lots of moisturizer with sunscreen added than other groups in the study.
SO what’s a person to do? Several articles suggest giving the body what it needs to protect itself the way that nature intended- high antioxidant intake. Native man ate lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in the summer. You say, “sure, I do that”. But have you read the studies that show our food contains 200 times less nutrients than food 50 years ago?? There have been several studies showing the marked difference in food just 25 years ago. SO that is why it makes sense to supplement your diet no matter how healthy you eat. For safe skin health .
Dr. Al Sears, MD suggests: “Get enough antioxidants, one of your best lines of defense against all types of skin damage.” (NSP has the highest antioxidant in ORAC-Thai Go)

Vitamin D. Take 1,000 to 2,000 IEUs per day, particularly during the winter.

Vitamin C. Fights free radicals, reduces inflammation, boosts immune- 500 mg twice per day
(I like to do 1 teas. of VIt C Ascorbates powder in ¼ to ½ cup Thai Go with any amount water)
Vitamin E. 400 IU per day. Look for vitamin E as “mixed tocopherols” on the label.
Alpha-Lipoic Acid. 200 mg to 400 mg daily- antioxidant, guards mitochondria, cancer defense

Super Omega-3s. Studies show that omega 6:3 ratio is important in preventing skin cancer.
Try rubbing a little mango butter or shea butter on your skin as a sun blocker without the toxic chemicals. You can also use zinc oxide, a natural mineral that provides a reflective barrier on your skin. You can find these in most health food and supplement stores.
If it is going to be a big day of sun I do this before going out and then again when I come home. When back, I also rub on lots of Emu Oil (high in Omega 3s) with added lavender oil, repeatedly, if I feel at all pink or burned along with Natures Fresh with Lavender oil, which I would alternate with the oil the first 12-24 hours. Wear a big hat and a light shirt to cover up!
